London: My experience at the ZSL London Zoo

I have an irrational phobia for many animals like dogs and cockroaches. That being said, I should be the last person going to the zoo. However, this was something I really wanted to do before I leave the UK. The last time I came to the London zoo, I was only 1 years old! For some reason, the only memory I retained was holding my moms hand and looking up at the tallest giraffe.

I wanted to come back here to reconcile with my old memories and make new ones! I saw a lot of beautiful and strange animals that I usually only see on TV. I also noticed that zoo animals are much more calm in real life. 80% of the animals I saw were either sleeping or eating grass. Except for the monkeys, monkeys are crazy.

The main highlight of my trip was seeing a gorilla . I believe I saw Kumbaka who is around my age and weighs 190 kg! It came out of the bushes and walked slowly around the perimeter of its enclosure before retreating into the bushes. They are truly majestic animals.

I am so glad I came and it is an experience I will probably not forget again.

London: Visiting The Natural History Museum

I visited the Natural History Museum in London! This museum is located in South Kensington and is near other popular museums like the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

I love museums because they are educational, fun and there is always something to look at.

This place was HUGE! We walked around for over 3 hours and we were no where near done looking at the artefacts. This is a place you absolutely cannot see in a day.

I learnt mostly about geology while I was here because my brother studied geology. Besides all the rocks and cool fossils there were a lot of educational sections to learn about different aspects of the human body. I was like a kid at the candy store once I walked into the biology section. The biomedical scientist in me was ecstatic!

I experienced a computer simulated earthquake and I learnt about how they happen which was pretty cool. I also learnt about the history of the earth, from the big bang till now. I also saw a piece of DNA and a human brain! It really gives you a weird out of body experience seeing something like that.

Looking at all the animals and fossils in the exhibit I couldn’t help but wonder how they survived when they were alive. How did they adapt and feed? It’s crazy that these animals were alive millions of years before us. It’s crazier they’re extinct! How sway? How?

All in all it was an amazing experience and I would really like to visit here in the distant future.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

A New Beginning

I’m starting a blog! This is so exciting! For some reason I wasn’t as nervous starting a blog as I was when I started a YouTube channel.

I think the allure of hiding behind a screen drew me to blogging ultimately (The introvert force is strong with me). I can finally live my dreams as a couch potato…until my next YouTube video.

I wanted to start a blog to express a different side of me, doing Pearl things, creatively, in my own space, for everyone.  I feel this is the right place.

So here’s some little facts about me:

  • I just finished my final year in the University of Salford, I studied Biomedical Science
  • I love watching movies – I watch almost every movie that is showing in the cinema.
  • Music is an integral part of my life – music is capable of provoking strong emotions in me or carrying me through mundane things like reading a book
  • I love travelling to popular tourist sites and doing basic tourist stuff.
  • I am a natural hair and makeup enthusiast. I’m always trying new products and techniques to get the best out of my hair and skin.

That’s it! I hope this kicks off the blog and any suggestions are highly appreciated!
